Siobhan and Kevin : Ardgowan House Wedding

Ardgowan House is one of my favourite places to visit, and especially for photographs. It’s situated between Gourock and Inverkip, in Inverclyde, Scotland. It’s just been voted runner up in the UK’s Historic House Restorations, which is testament to all the amazing work that’s been done. Truly an amazing place!

It’s absolutely stunning, inside and out, and dates back to the 18th Century, counting guests such as Robert the Bruce, Napoleon, and Florence Nightingale. It’s also been used more recently for filming, including the major BBC drama “Agatha Christie’s Ordeal by Innocence’. Check it out here

When Siobhan got in touch and asked me to shoot her wedding, when I heard it was to be at Ardgowan House- I was absolutely delighted and so excited!

We met up a week or so before the wedding, we were treated to a stunning evening, lots of sun, and blue skies as we wandered around the estate for a recce. As always, I like to meet up with couples before the big day, to get to know each other- I think its hugely important to have a good relationship and connection with your photographer.

We hit it off right away, and after a quick run through of the running of the wedding, we were off to wander around the grounds of the estate, which were basking in the evening sun. We got some magical light, which allowed me to great some great shots of Siobhan and Kevin, who got over their ‘I hate having my picture taken’ comments VERY quickly.

So, a week or so later, it was the big day!

As I shoot in the style of a documentary wedding photographer I arrived early to get some photographs of the venue, little details, and was in plenty time to capture all the guests arriving. The weather wasn’t as nice as our previous visit, but that’s Scotland for you! Luckily, Ardgowan House has so many AMAZING rooms. Can you see the theme for the wedding tables?

Kevin arrived soon after, had a quick dram with best man Barry, and nipped upstairs to await the arrival of Siobhan, and her Dad, Drew.

Siobhan arrived, looking absolutely stunning. Drew looked SUPER proud as he posed for me, and got a wee cheeky kiss from his daughter before the short walk upstairs to the ceremony room.

I nipped ahead to the packed room, where everyone was waiting on Siobhan and Drew. A wonderful ceremony followed, full of laughter, emotion and smiles, tears- really magical and a privilege to photograph, especially in my documentary style, capturing the moments as they happened, naturally.

We nipped out for some group shots, the weather held, and afterwards I took the new Mr and Mrs Glover for another walk, again in the stunning grounds of Ardgowan House for some wedding portraits.

I had such an amazing time- HUGE thanks to Siobhan and Kevin, and all their wonderful families and friends for being so nice on the day. Also huge thanks to Ludo and the team at Ardgowan House!

An absolute pleasure from start to finish. Have a look at their day below!
