London loves
On Thursday 30th January 2020 I headed down to London to spend a couple of days geeking it out with the camera and friends. It’s really good just to get out and take photographs for ME from time to time.
Part of the reason for the trip was to help celebrate the 1 year anniversary part of The FujiCast podcast, which if you haven’t heard of, is a top notch photography (not all Fuji) podcast produced by Neale James and Kevin Mullins. Get on it, it’s a brilliant listen!
A special live edition was to be held at Fujifilm’s amazing new space in London, The House of Photography, in Covent Garden.
I met up with my good friend and fellow Fujifilm geek, Derek Mitchell, and we got the 8.24am train from Gourock to Glasgow, before then getting the train to Euston in London. We met up with my good pal Emily Renier and went to ditch our bags at the hotel.
From there we went to De Hems bar in Soho, to meet up with more camera geeks, have some beers, and then onto the party at the House of Photography in Covent Garden. Afterwards, more partying. It’s a hard life!
Friday was spent wandering around London, visiting the Photographers Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, and all the tourist spots with Derek, Emily, Denver, and Bartek.
Amazing Thai food followed, before Derek and I took a walk into Westminster to see what was happening, as it was B***** day, January 31st.
Really horrible atmosphere around the area- we saw lots of far right groups, racist singing, amongst other behaviour. So, we didn’t take many photos, instead a few and then walked back to Soho, where the atmosphere was completely different. So much so, you’d never have known anything was happening. I didn’t like this part of the trip, at all.
Saturday, the new London, free from the EU. What had changed?
For us, more tourist stuff with the cameras and back home to Scotland. We had a brilliant time!
Lots of images below. It was great to take photos for fun, got me going again for a busy 2020.
Photographer geek stuff- all images shot with Fujifilm GFX50R, GF50mm F3.5. That first one sums up the state of me on the Friday A.M- thankfully it missed focus, as I couldn’t focus.
Thanks to Derek, Emily, Denver, Bartek, Tom H, Scott, Laura, Steve, Sam, Tom J, Lee, Kevin, Neale, Andreas and Theo at Fujifilm, and to everyone else I met over the couple of days. If I’ve missed you it’s cos I’m too tired to remember! No offence :)
When’s the next one?
Awrabest!
