Day 6: Wednesday 25th March 2020

Day 6, and my final day this week before I go back to work, and pass over the home schooling to Alyson, who will be off work Thursday and Friday.

Started the day with the girls and Joe Wicks again, and then did my own workout in the living room as the weather has decided to turn to shit, just to add to things. We then had some chill time, with Eilidh choosing to listen to The Killers, Johnny Marr, and Inhaler (She’s 6 and loves music, and to please me, my kind of music although I’m not naive enough to think this will always be the case, she does like a bit of Kids Pop and ABBA!)

Niamh, who is 3 is also displaying this and sang songs by the above artists throughout the day. I am chuffed!

We also played around with my cameras, and we also watched some YouTube videos on cameras and photography, again Eilidh’s choice as she really seems to enjoy photography and cameras. This again makes me so proud.

Then showers and into schooling, with spelling, word searches, reading and some maths on the iPad which is also electronics time. As with the other days, we had a ‘Zoom’ call with Eilidh and Niamh’s friends, which is really helping them all stick together. They started introducing each others’ soft toys to each other, asking Alexa to play tunes, and dancing- really melted my old heart.

Alyson came home from work and I decided I’d use the government advice to go for a walk to try and clear my head, was really tired after the 3 days. Got the AirPods on, listened to a podcast and went for a walk along the front of Gourock. There weren’t many people about, so distancing was easy.

However, the biggest thing I noticed was that people didn’t even acknowledge each other, choosing to look the other way, or head down and walk past as quickly as possible. Is that where we are at with this?

Surely we don’t lose sight of each other and who we are. Last month it was ‘Be Kind’ and now have we forgotten that, I hope not.

It’s bad enough wondering when the next time I’ll see my friends, be able to go for a beer, go to Cappielow, go to the gym- who knows when that will be?

Anyway- closed the day off with a beer and another episode of ‘Hunters’ on Amazon Prime.

Back to work tomorrow. I’ll really miss the girls, as this week has made me even closer to them if that was even possible.

Stay safe everyone.
